BSNL broadband will soon be at 2mbps

The state-owned BSNL will offer high speeds of upto 2 mbps broadband connectivity to its existing subscribers who were till now getting the connection at 256 kbps, announced the communication and IT minister Dayanidhi Maran at India Telecom 2006. BSNL would offer high-speed internet broadband at the existing price. "It is now for the private operators to match it or beat it."

What is MathML?

MathML is an application of XML (Extensible Markup Language) designed to facilitate the use of mathematical expressions in Web pages. Historically, mathematical content has been difficult to portray because standard typographic character sets do not provide for them and because they sometimes exceed a line width in size.
On Web sites, GIF or JPG images must usually be created to portray all but the simplest mathematical expressions. This works, but it does not always look professional, and when the HTML files are saved and then viewed offline, the images do not show up unless they have been individually downloaded and their tags have been made consistent with the offline file. MathML allows the insertion of mathematical expressions within an HTML file as special data. The browser (which must support MathML) can then display the appropriate symbol or expression.
For mathematicians, engineers, and scientists familiar with TeX or LaTeX, MathML can be thought of in this way: It is to HTML as TeX or LaTeX is to plain text. In fact, conversion programs are available that can be used to generate MathML documents from TeX or LaTeX documents.
MathML is in the developmental stages. The ultimate goal is to render mathematical documents directly viewable in, and printable from, popular Web browsers such as Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer. Until that ideal is realized, the viewing of mathematical content in Web sites generally requires specialized plug-ins.

How to Remove Linux without having to Re-Install WindowsXP

Here's a small trick. Boot from WindowsXP CD and then, as soon the booting is complete, Press 'R' to enter into repair mode. When you get into the "Repair Console", login into appropriate OS (most of the times it's "1: C:\WINDOWS").

Note:- You will need the administrator password of your Computer

Type the DOS command : fixmbr, and press Enter. This will ask for confirmation, Accept it. Exit the console using "exit" command and the Linux GRUB is removed!!!

Now, you can go ahead and remove Linux Partitions using Partition Magic or any such similar software.

Indiatimes Shopping... not again!!!

The worst ever online shopping is Indiatimes. If you are willing to buy anything there, please drop the idea. I ordered for an iPAQ PDA long back on Aug 6th, 2006, but no signs of recieving the product yet. Call center guys will tell that we'll get the product in "3 working days" but many 3 working days are over. In between I had got a call from them saying "Sorry for getting late...You'll be recieving a gift as well with the product" and gave a date. It is already 1 week past that date but no signs. At last i got it on Sep 23rd... but they didn't send the gift they promised!!!

Gmail in ASP.NET

I had been searching for VB.NET or C#.NET code for a long time to send E-mails in ASP.NET. Everywhere I happened to see the same code that doesn't really work, especially, with Gmail. I have not been able to find any other E-mail provider who give POP3-SMTP support. At last, here's the solution. There is a DLL file - Mail.dll (free download) that can be used to send E-mail using the Gmail's SMTP server. They also have a sample code illustrating how to use it.
